Admissions and scholarship policy

How applications are assessed, how decisions and scholarships are made, and how to request a review.

This policy is a working draft prepared for the ISDL pilot. It describes how the platform actually works and will be finalised after legal review, including confirmation of the school's legal entity and data controller.

Principles

Admissions at ISDL are rigorous but fair, structured, human-accountable, accessible, privacy-aware and transparent.

Process

  1. Applications are checked for completeness. If something required is missing, we tell you what and give you a deadline.
  2. Complete applications are assessed by trained reviewers against the published rubric on a 1–5 scale, with evidence recorded for each criterion.
  3. An authorised administrator makes the final admission decision. AI may assist reviewers with summaries and consistency checks; it never makes decisions.
  4. Possible outcomes: accepted; accepted with scholarship; accepted with scholarship decision pending; waitlisted or deferred; declined.

Scholarships

  • Four award levels: 100%, 75%, 50% and 25% of published tuition. Names, places and terms are published for each cohort.
  • Applicants may select any, all, or none. Selection indicates interest, not entitlement.
  • Admission and scholarship decisions are separate. Each learner receives at most one award percentage unless cohort terms state otherwise.
  • Award amounts are calculated from the published tuition and shown in the offer letter together with the remaining balance.
  • If an offer is declined or a learner withdraws, the award lapses.

Submitted applications

Your answers are saved as a snapshot at submission so the reviewed version is clear. Corrections after submission are made through a logged process.

Review requests

If you believe there was a factual or procedural error in the handling of your application, you may request a review within 14 days of your decision using the contact form. Reviews consider process, not disagreement with academic judgement.

Equality

Reviewers must not use demographic proxies, institutional prestige, or writing polish alone as substitutes for evidence. Accommodation requests do not affect assessment.
